Petros200
Is there any difference between these 2 words?

frustrating is more in regards to something bothersome and annoying/agitating. and disappointing is more of a sad feeling, like you had [high] hopes for something and got let down. and more you’re upset about your expectations that didn’t get met

Yes. Did you look up the definitions of the two and compare them? 🤷🏻‍♂️

They're different words. Frustrating things make you angry. Disappointing things make you sad.

Frustration is anger or resentment towards something not going the way you want it to. Disappointment is not anger or resentment, but a rather different emotion that is closer to sadness, that something did not meet expectations.

As I feel it, frustration is the precursor to anger, and disappointment is the precursor to sadness. And I'm using "precursor" here to mean "a less-serious ailment that can lead to a more-serious one, if untreated."

To add, when using the words you would be “frustrated at” something but “disappointed in” something.

Frustration is a reaction to being inhibited in some way. Perhaps it's taking too long to learn to play the guitar. Perhaps the traffic is too slow. Perhaps your partner keeps saying they'll do something important, and not doing it. It's about being unable to meet needs or wants. Disappointment is about unmet expectations. Perhaps your friend flaked. Perhaps you thought you were getting an A, but it was a B-. Perhaps you paid $20 to see Megalopolis in a theater, and could barely avoid clawing your face off within the first half hour. I mean, the director is incredible, the cast is stellar, of course you expect the world, but then you get abject blithering nonsense. Your reaction to that gap between expectation and reality is disappointment. There can be overlap. You can be disappointed by the cause of frustration, and vice versa.

Frustration makes you angry, disappointment makes you sad.

if someone says they’re disappointed I would assume they’re sad about it. If someone says they’re frustrated I would assume they’re starting to get irritated/angry about it. Both are responses to things out of your control.

Yes. Frustration is when you cannot achieve something you want to, or want something to change but have no control over it. Disappointment is when something does not meet your hopes or expectations.
