What kind of situation do you use "Rendezvous"

Lemon_boi5491
Is there a specific situation that you will use "rendezvous" instead of "meeting" ? Just curious because I have never heard of this word being used.

A rendezvous is a meeting away from the customary meeting place. "We can rendezvous at the train station", "We will have to arrange a rendezvous."

For romantic affairs and the military

Rendezvous is French so we don't use it often. It's usually in the context of something exclusive or secret. And often times things that have an exclusive/secret meaning have a romantic/sexual double meaning. So "Edward turned up late for their rendezvous." this implies Edward and usually 1 other are meeting at not their usual meeting place.

Specifically used for two people meeting for personal reasons, often romantic in nature. Would never be used in a formal or business context.

You dont hear it often, but you might here it in spy films or action films when a group of people “regroup to discuss plans” or something - it’s sometimes considered like a cooler more serious meeting? I guess. Not common

Usually in reference to a planned joining of people or groups en route to something. —— Let’s rendezvous at the subway, and we will ride together. We will rendezvous at six and then head over to the game. It starts at seven. Have you decided on a rendezvous point?
