Hi! Sorry for asking it here, but I'm wondering why I can't make a post. Its immediately being removed. Does anyone know why? (I've just never used reddit before, so I don't know how it works)

An elecrtrician strips electric cables from their isolating mantle. Then he connects the end of the cable with the end of another cable: he makes end meet ![gif](giphy|3mDuVMstBA0uEdwFCG|downsized)

Removing the insulation on wires is called stripping, and electricians have to do it any time they connect a wire to something

Electricians strip the casing off of wires to make the ends meet each other.

To make ends meet, dah!
JackRabbit-
Strippers strip their clothes to make ends meet (make enough money to pay the bills) Electricians strip the coverings on wires back to make their ends meet (so the wires connect to each other)

It's a double meaning. The word "stripping" just means to take something off. It's commonly used to mean to take clothing off, but isn't limited to clothing. The other most common usage of the term is for electricians. One common thing they do is strip wires. In other words, remove the insulation so they can be joined to other wires. That is also called stripping.

Stripping a wire means to remove its insulation, its sheath.

Electricians strip ends of wires in order to make contact surfaces.

Electricians typically buy large spools of wire covered in insulating plastic. The electrician will cut off a segment of wire of the desired length, then use a [wire stripper ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire_stripper)to remove a small amount of the insulation from each end of the segment. The exposed ends of wire will be attached to connectors (wrapped around a metal pole, placed in a metal clap, etc.) that will hold the wire in place.

Electricians usually accumulate a bunch of scraps of copper wire. They could sell these scraps to make ends meet (get enough money to pay their bills). The best price they’ll get for it is when it’s “bare bright,” where bare means stripped (removed from its colored plastic insulation) and bright means shiny, uncorroded copper. So they regularly strip copper wire to sell it.

ones a wired stripper, the other is a wire stripper

They strip wires, normally to allow connections to other wires or components. The joke is both strip to make ends meet, but one does it to allow connections, the other to permit visuals.
