What's the difference between utters and mutters?

For example "He utters" and "He mutters" , is there any difference between the two words

To utter is just to speak. Utter and speak are synonyms. To mutter is to speak poorly or quietly. Mutter and mumble are synonyms.

Utter = making a sound with your voice. Uually words. Mutter = speaking unclearly.
