Daily idiom: bone in the throat

I've never heard or used this idiom before personally.

I have to be honest: as a native speaker I’ve never heard this idiom.

This is one of the worst yet and that’s honestly a pretty high bar.

I have never heard this in my long life. Did you make this up?

No. This feels like something you'd tell someone learning english so they can be laughed at.

Apparently this was posted here 11 months ago. At that time, nobody remarked on the unusualness of the idiom; the only discourse was about whether the second Example was a poor one, or a clever one.

This idiom exists in Japan, “fish bone is sticking the throat”.

I've never heard this one.

I’ve *never* heard this before. The closest I can think of to this that I actually see used is someone/something being “a thorn in one’s side”.
