very awkwardly phrased but it's asking what tenses are for.

What do tenses \[as the form of a verb\] help to determine? And I think the correct answer is actually C.

I am at my fucking limit. (NO ONE WOULD EVER ASK ME WHAT TENSES AS THE fORM Of A VERB HELP TO DETERMINE OR WHAT IT EVEN MEANS, ENGLISH, OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE, AT ITS MOST BASIC LEVEL IS AN INTERMEDIATE USED TO COMMUNICATE WITH, AND UNDERSTAND OTHER PEOPLE, WHY DO I HAVE TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS WHEN I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE EffECTIVELY WITH PEOPLE) sorry for the rant, pretty sure one or two of the things I said there are completely wrong, i am just frustrated :/

Tenses determine time.

it’s basically saying what does the tense in the statement determine and it’s A bc if you have for example, say, said, saying, has said, will say, etc. those are all different time tenses of one verb and that’s what using it in that way shows, different timings

I believe β€œWhat do verbal tenses help determine?” would be a reformulation with the same meaning, or a close one.

It is time (A). The reason being the Verb determines WHEN it happened in relation to when you said it(now)

The answer is A. Strictly speaking, tenses are _only_ for time, and English only has two, past and non-past. The rest is aspect and mood.

Note: according to the Oxford dictionary **tense** is defined as, "a set of forms taken by a verb to indicate the time (and sometimes also the continuance or completeness) of the action in relation to the time of the utterance." So the correct answer would be: A and sometimes C

The tense is the way the verb is conjugated to account for time, e.g. "past", "imperfect" "future" "future perfect" etc.
