Hello, I'm not a native English speaker and I'm trying to translate a particular quote that uses the word: "brandished": "the individual brandished a firearm".
Is there an easier way to say it, a synonym?

You could say they “waved” a firearm.

Wielded

There is not a word that is entirely synonymous. For me, the phrase 'waved the gun in a threatening manner' is the closest meaning of brandished. Other words do not imply the threat

brandished is fine, but you could say presented/bore/wielded

Difficult one to find a synonym for because ‘brandish’ connotes the use of a weapon in a *threatening* manner, not just to use it. Closest equivalent is ‘wielded’ as that includes the idea that the firearm will be used against someone/something rather than simply being visibly held

Pulled a gun.

Flashed. Pretty much used the same way as brandished, meaning to intimidate or threaten.
