Hoe did yall learn English as a second language?

HarangLee
I got familiar with the grammar at elementary school and when Covid hit, I became obsessed with Tiktok and watched US tiktok like I have nothing else to do. Probably not the wisest way to learn it but at least I got to get comfortable and familiar with the language. I say it taught me English better than our school system.

*Who ya callin' a hoe, ya ho'?* But to answer the question, my parents got me started with the Peter & Jane book series when I was around 5-6 years old. Then kindergarten classes took me further. From then on it was by reading more materials and practice.

I learned the basics in school and after graduation I lived in the UK for about a year this was before Brexit.

I learned the basic grammars and vocabulary from a teacher in my extra class. But it was exposure to English contents such as novels, music, comics that changed my attitude to English. From a mandatory subject that makes me feel frustrated to learn English became an integral part of my life. Using it to read and listen to my favorite contents makes me feel a sense of meaning in my study.

Hi there I recently developed an app that you might be able to use to support your language learning journey. It's name is [Tell Me A Tale](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tell-me-a-tale/id6739779219). What makes [Tell Me A Tale](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tell-me-a-tale/id6739779219) magical? ✨ Create unique adventures by selecting settings, characters, and plot twists 🌍 Instantly generate stories in multiple languages 📚 Build your own library of original tales 🗣️ Listen to your stories with natural text-to-speech voices -> Requires subscription What started as a personal way to bridge language barriers has become something bigger—helping anyone, anywhere, bring stories to life 🚀. I learned basic when I was a student at school, after graduation, I learned from YouTube which the videos I liked, I turned on the subtitles for immersive myself in it , but I found my English isn’t good enough, that’s why I found a tutor on a certain languages learning platform , I learned with him

My mom is an English teacher. Also, I was on the philological profile at the school I attended. That got me to a solid B2 and moving to the US, studying at a university here and taking a few English classes, which are required for international students helped a lot

I'm not a hoe, I'm a rake.

Once I’ve learned the basics i found a job in an area where speaking English is mandatory. It forced me to learn it even more because i had to 😁 after all those years got me where i am now. I can say i’m a solid b2 trying to achieve C1 but no rush. Currently learning another language. This time i’m taking courses 😂
