"Fits like a glove" means fits perfectly. "As fit as a glove" is not a thing.

It's actually "fits like a glove". 🙂 "Fit" can be a verb. If a piece of clothing fits, it's the right size (and maybe shape) for your body. If it fits like a glove, it's the *perfect* size and shape. https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/fit https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/fit_like_a_glove

The correct way to say it would be "that dress fits you like a glove." "You look as fit as a fiddle" = You look healthy/in good physical.shape

This isn't really an idiom, it's just a commonly used simile. Something fits like a glove. There's nothing figurative about it, it's just a literal comparison.

Fits like a glove

Hey that’s awesome! Slight change though, it would be “this dress fits you like a glove”

That's not quite right. It's "fits like a glove."

The idiom is "X fits you like a glove". Gloves usually fit precisely, so the idea is that X fits you perfectly/exactly. This shouldn't be confused with e.g. "You look fit", which is either a statement of health/fitness or, mostly in BrE, an expression of sexual attraction. The difference is YOU look fit vs. THE ITEM fits you like a glove. "You look fit like a glove" is not a thing.

But, what if the gloves are OJ's?

If the glove doesn't fit...

As others have said, the expression is "that fits like a glove". I also want to point out that it is a simile not an idiom. An idiom is an expression that you can't derive its meaning from the words. Fits like a glove is a colorful simile, but it doesn't have a hidden meaning. Whatever article is as tight as a glove is intended to be.

Another funny idiom is "Like a glove", you can say it comically when you do a really bad parking job.

Everyone is gonna say this is wrong, but I think it's really funny and quite cute. Language is always evolving. Your mind is as fit as a glove :)

Yeah - are you in the UK? “Fit as” means something different there, but it would normally be “fit like a glove”

>You look as fit as glove' in this dress That's not the idiom, *at all*.

Just wanted to add that "fits like a glove" isn't always positive. For example, I've heard it used to imply that someone's outfit is inappropriately right for that environment. If someone says someone's dress "fits like a glove" in a conservative work environment, it might be a criticism.
