As a non native English speaker, I love to watch TikTok. And I always envy the rhythms and sounds of English words. Taking my favorite one for example: the word *frenzy* please my ears and warm my heart. You wouldn’t believe how much I ADORE the sound of *frenzy* as a non English speaker. Let me give you an advice native speakers: be proud of your language. Don’t feel embarrassed or overwhelmed by speaking English because of the huge popularity of English. You can’t believe how many people across the world love the English language. These are some of my favorite words: illicit, peripheral, perplex…

This was really nice to read! As others have said, it can definitely be hard for a native speaker to appreciate the beauty of their own language so it's always interesting for me when I hear people's opinions, their favourite words etc.

My favourite words are sceptical and susceptible.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for the language! I revel in the beauty of other languages' words, that sometimes I forget to appreciate my own

I like the dark L followed by the TH sound: filthy, stealthy, healthy...

As a native speaker this almost feels like a joke lol. Like we are just so used to thinking of English as a boring and plain laungauge

I relate so much as a non-native. I fell in love with English so bad I ended up teaching it lol My current obsession for the past few years is just about any American southern accent. Southern accents are often mocked but I genuinely love them so much. I'm not very good at it and I wouldn't try to force it in my speech, but I practice a lot in my car 😂

I do enjoy about English that we largely seem to care more about the artistry if the use of words above imposing strict rules.

I often feel like native English speakers don't often appreciate quite how poetic the language can be, or how much our word choice can be used to convey extra layers of meaning, it's just kind of "normal" to us. And a lot of it comes from how much English has touched and interacted with other languages, borrowing words to define increasingly niche and specific subject matter.

I'm glad that other people have an appreciation for certain words. I love words with strong G's like Gallant or Gallop. P's are also fun too like Porous (though I hate what that word makes me think of, I love the way it sounds), Palette also sounds really nice. And as you said, perplex and peripheral are great too.

I didn't realize it until my French husband pointed it out that English is very sing songy. I like the word soliloquy and crestfallen c:
